Why July is blowout season 🔥
Blowouts spike every July. It's not bad luck — it's basic physics 🌡️ For every 10°F the temperature climbs, the pressure inside a heavy-duty truck tire rises by roughly 2 psi. Underinflated tire + summer heat = pressure builds past what the tire can handle. That's the moment it lets go 💥 At 70 mph, a steer tire blowout doesn't give you a second chance to react ⚠️ And the cost isn't just the tire. Add it up: tow truck 🚛, a hotel if you're stranded overnight 🏨, lost CPM for the day 💸, a missed delivery window 📦 One blowout can easily run $2,000-$10,000+. All from a tire that was sitting a few psi off. Checking pressure takes 5 minutes every morning, before the truck's been running and the reading's skewed by heat. It's the cheapest insurance you'll buy all week ✅🔧

Sliding tandems: fix your axle weight without dropping a pound ⚖️
You pull onto the scale. Light turns red. Overweight 🚨 Before you panic — check this first: is your TOTAL weight actually the problem, or is it just how that weight's distributed? 🤔 Here's what a lot of new drivers don't realize: 80,000 lbs total is the legal max, but each axle group has its own separate limit too. You can be totally fine on total weight and still get flagged on one axle. The fix usually isn't dropping freight. It's sliding your tandems — moving the trailer's rear axle position a few holes forward or back to shift weight between your drive axles and trailer axles 🔧 A few holes can be the difference between rolling through legal and eating a fine that costs way more than the 10 minutes it takes to slide 💸 Learn your axle weights before you hit the scale. It's one of the cheapest, fastest fixes in trucking — no wasted freight, no wasted time ✅

Lumper fees: paying to unload your own freight 🚛
You just drove hundreds of miles. You made it to the dock. Delivery's about to happen ✅ Then someone hands you a bill for $200-300 💸 That's a lumper fee — third-party labor that unloads your trailer, most common at grocery and retail warehouses. You didn't order it. You usually can't skip it. No payment, no unloading — doesn't matter how far you drove to get there 🚫 Here's what a lot of new drivers don't know: you're not supposed to be stuck covering this out of pocket. Federal law (49 USC §14103) says drivers can't be coerced into paying for unloading without getting reimbursed ⚖️ So what do you actually do? 🤔 ✅ Ask your broker for a ComChek or payment code before you arrive — most issue one in 15-30 minutes ✅ Get lumper terms in writing on the rate confirmation before accepting the load ✅ Always grab a receipt if you do pay — no receipt usually means no reimbursement One question before you accept a load can save you $150-300. Ask it every time 📝

Happy 4th of July 🇺🇸🎆
To every driver still on the road today — this one’s for you 👋 Everyone else is firing up the grill, cracking open a cold one, waiting for the fireworks to start 🍔🎇 You’re still driving. Still delivering. Still getting freight where it needs to go — holiday or not 🚛💨 That food on the table? The drinks in the cooler? The fireworks people are about to watch? None of it shows up without a truck behind it 🧊🎆 We know today isn’t easy. Family’s waiting, the holiday’s happening without you, and you’re still behind the wheel 💪 So if you’re out there right now — thank you 🙌 What you do doesn’t stop for a holiday, and that says a lot about who you are. Stay safe. Stay sharp. Drive smart 🙏 Happy Independence Day from all of us at Milebit 🇺🇸🎆

Why are parking lots in the US so HUGE? 🤯
Because the system is built for it. Thousands of trucks are on the road every day 🚛 And drivers are required to stop and rest ⏱️ So parking must be available. Plus, trucks are BIG. Long and heavy — they need space to park and turn. And it’s not just trucks: cars, RVs, buses also use these places 🚗🚌 That’s why parking lots look like small cities. But it actually makes life easier: 👉 less stress 👉 safer parking 👉 better planning Big space = smoother trips. #trucking #truckdriver #cdllife #roadlife #logistics #milebit
